Games Galore

4.5 more days! Then Katie and the boys will be in town for the week! I can't even wait I am so excited. Luke's birthday is July 18th, they get in Friday afternoon and then we are having his birthday party Saturday night. Since Luke's birthday is on a Wednesday, Katie and Matt decided to celebrate it yesterday at Chuck E. Cheese. Here are a few pictures...

Katie said the boys had a blast and really enjoyed playing the games and getting the tickets. After all said and done the boys redeemed their tickets for mini airheads, a whistle, and one other thing I can't remember. Well worth the $25!

I on the other hand didn't do too much this week/weekend. However, I did get the canvasses I made hung in my room. I am still missing one, but as soon as I find the right box it will be done in to time.

Holy JULY Batman!

Wow!  I can't believe it is July already! Lots of things have happened the last few days in June and here are some of them.

I started working on an arts and crafts project (thanks to Pinterest) and finally got the big project for my room finished. I do not have anything hanging on my walls. I decided this month it was time to change that, so I made some wall canvases.
The canvas for my room.

The boxes used were from work, the craft store (they were going to throw them away), and a shoe box top  from a pair of boots. This was a relatively cheap project considering the boxes were free and we had coupon for the fabric. They look great in my room and I am glad to finally have some wall art.

On top of the arts and crafts, my mom and I took a trip to the Lake of the Ozarks this last weekend. Her friend's family has some property down there and we had a blast getting out of STL and spending time on a boat. I got a little color from the sun which I am happy about and relaxing on the water was amazing!!!

Out East, Katie and the boys had a little bit different kind of fun. Remember when you or your children were young and bath time was in the kitchen sink. Well, Matt took everyone back in time.

Matt had spread fertilizer around the house and instead of hopping into the shower he just washed himself off in the kitchen sink. Funny isn't it?

Bubbles and Baking Soda

Got to love Pinterest! Katie has come up with excuse after excuse to not join pinterest so I take all this time out of my busy day to send her fun things I see for her and the boys to do. Last week I sent her, Bubble Snakes and Baking Soda, Water and Food Coloring, both ideas I got off Pinterest and both looked like tons of fun.

Bubble Snakes,
Were fun for the boys but only kept them entertained for so long. At least it was something to get them outside! The website recommended putting food coloring on the sock to change the color of the bubbles, so that is an idea.

Science Experiment:
Kate said this was a GREAT idea and it kept Cole entertained for much longer than the Bubble Snake. If I remember correctly she just used water, baking soda and food coloring. If I could get her to add some post she could tell more details about it, so this will just have to do!

So glad the boys had fun with those ideas, maybe we can try some when they come in town. Speaking of, 24 DAYS UNTIL THEIR VISIT!

Short and Sweet

OHH not too much to report today besides Katie getting locked out of her house and Luke knocking a 5 year old upside his head. After a long day's work on Monday I got to enjoy a wonderful story about how my sister got locked out of her house by her 4 and 2 year old sons! The story begins with Cole getting in trouble and being sent to his room. After that, Katie took the laundry downstairs to start a load of wash. Luke, with his quick thinking, trails behind and locks the door after her. She said she returned to the top of the stairs unable to open the door and chuckled. She called for Luke and he responded, she asked him to open the door and there was no response, she even looked under the door to see if there were little toes standing near by. Katie rememebered she could go out the basement door and cut through the garage. Little did she know Luke had locked that door also. She returned to the basement door and after a couple minutes and a few, "You have until the count of 3" and "Luke Matthew, OPEN THIS DOOR," she decided she would take matters into her own hands and McGyver the lock open. She looked for all different kinds of tools in the basement but nothing worked. She went into the garage to find more tools and finally was able to break into her house. Needless to say Luke had an excuse as to why he locked the doors and didn't open them, "Mommy, I was going potty." RIGGGHHHTTTTT!!! And Cole, he wasn't leaving his room because he was told not to come out until he was told so. Did that backfire or what?

This morning I got an email from Katie saying, "Luke just decked a kid in the face for calling him a little boy at the playground." Naturally I called her as soon as I read that. Picture this... Katie's on the playground and all of a sudden she hears a boy scream/cry and she sees Luke running straight for her. She asked Luke, "Honey, what happened?" Luke said, "Mommy, I hit him because he called me little!" I about died!!! First, the thought of little Luke in a mad dash towards her is funny in itself then, to picture Luke hitting this 5 year old boy because he called him little is even better.  Katie gave him the natural, "Sweety, you can't hit other people." All was right with the world after that but man that was a good one! All those other kids better watch out, including Cole, because his younger brother is not going to tolerate being called LITTLE!
Luke's funny (I'm gonna lock you out) face!

Horses and Bees

Here we are, another Monday and the past weekend was an absolute blast! I went to Kentucky with Alex for his cousin, Craig’s, wedding. We took a few days off and headed to Louisville early so we didn’t miss out on the pre-wedding festivities. Thursday there was a luncheon at Churchill Downs and it was awesome. I have never been to any horse races and I knew even if I had been to Fairmont Park this wouldn’t compare. I didn’t take much risk with betting so needless to say I didn’t have much reward either. I think the most Alex or I won was $25, after all said and done we ended in the red though. The experience was well worth it. Friday we went on a few Whiskey tours. We hit three different distilleries; two of the three were Maker’s Mark and Jim Beam, the first was just a small mom and pop distillery. Alex, bought a bottle at Maker’s Mark and was allowed to slam dunk his bottle in the wax to make his own mark. Saturday was the wedding and they aren’t kidding when they say the Auer family does it big. There was so much dancing and singing my legs and throat still hurt! I can’t say that after talking to Katie last night on the phone she had as great of a week and weekend as I did. Recently, the Quantes have been on a Duck Dynasty kick. When Mom and Dad went to visit Kate and Matt they came home talking just like Phil and Si. I have tried to get Alex hooked and have been telling everyone I meet about the show, it is just hilarious! While in Kentucky I received a text message from Katie saying, “Was wanting to tell you the boys and I went on a hike yesterday and it was like an episode of Duck Dynasty. Cole stepped on a bee hive and we all got stung a couple of times and then as we continued to walk the heavens opened up and poured on us.”  The story sounded a lot worse over text than it did in real life. Neither of the boys was really hurt bad, as a matter of fact, Katie said Cole wasn’t even fazed. Luke being Luke, he was screaming that he wanted to go home and was done with the hike after the stings. I haven’t been stung by a bee in years and I don’t want to find out anytime soon what it is like. Thankfully, everyone recovered with just 2 stings. The weekend ended on Sunday with it being Katie’s birthday. She said she and Matt went to a nice dinner Saturday night and had some alone time. I hope she had a great birthday and enjoyed her weekend. 38  DAYS until her visit!!!!!!

Phone Tag

After a few days of phone tag, Kate and I finally got to talk on the phone for a little bit last night. I told her all about my best friend's wedding last weekend where I was asked to be one of the Maids of Honor. The wedding was a blast and my speech went off without a hitch.  After discussing my weekend, Katie told me about what had been going on in her life with her Husband and two boys, Cole, 4 and Luke, 2. Luke broke his elbow 5 weeks ago and just recently got his cast off. She said after about a week he finally started to realize his arm was back in business and could use it like normal again. Cole must have heard the doctor wrong when he told Kate what Luke could and could not do now that his arm was free. The doctor said, “No playgrounds, jungle gyms or any sort of activities that could aggravate his arm”; somehow Cole heard, “no chips and no jungle gyms”. Katie said Cole was telling the neighbors and others who asked, “Luke is not allowed to have chips or play on jungle gyms for 2 weeks.” The neighbors would look at Kate half laughing and half confused and she would just tell them, “I have no idea where he got the chips thing from, but it’s funny”.  I can just imagine now Cole walking up to someone and saying that with such confidence like he knows exactly what he is talking about and is practically the Doctors right hand man.
